November, 2026

Our meeting this month will be truly exceptional. In addition to our traditional Thanksgiving dinner, we are excited to welcome a special speaker who will lead a unique and engaging session that promises to make the evening even more memorable.

Opportunities to interact with a renowned filmmaker are rare, and Mr. Maxwell brings a unique perspective as the director of three acclaimed Civil War films: Gettysburg, Gods and Generals, and Copperhead. Mr. Maxwell will devote most of the evening to answering your questions, so come prepared to ask about anything that interests you. His insights into Civil War history, along with the challenges and decisions involved in bringing historical stories to the big screen, promise to make for a fascinating discussion. It will be a wonderful evening, so be sure to make your reservation early.

This year, our Round Table again led the charge to place flat stone grave markers in the Fredericksburg Confederate Cemetery. Fifty stones weighing 120 pounds each were emplaced on Halloween morning. All work was done by volunteers from our Round Table, the Sons of Confederate Veterans and other friends to support the Ladies Memorial Association in this worthwhile effort.

Many of the older grave markers have deteriorated over time, putting the names of the fallen in danger of being lost. Thanks to the hard work of Round Table members and other civic-minded volunteers, those soldiers' names are now permanently recorded and preserved. A special thank you goes to Kevin and Thena Jones, Scott Burns and Basil Moncrief for organizing and overseeing this valuable preservation effort.

I look forward to seeing you on November 18.

Jerre Wilson
