Civil War Round Table of Fredericksburg Assists in the Placement of Flat Stones at the Fredericksburg Confederate Cemetery

Updated: 16 hours ago

This year, our Round Table again led the charge to place flat stone grave markers in the Fredericksburg Confederate Cemetery.  Fifty stones weighing 120 pounds each were emplaced on Halloween morning.  All work was done by volunteers from our Round Table, the Sons of Confederate Veterans and other friends to support the Ladies Memorial Association in this worthwhile effort. Many of the older grave markers have deteriorated over time, putting the names of the fallen in danger of being lost. Thanks to the hard work of Round Table members and other civic-minded volunteers, those soldiers' names are now permanently recorded and preserved. A special thank you goes to Kevin and Thena Jones, Scott Burns and Basil Moncrief for organizing and overseeing this valuable preservation effort.
