Living Historian Thomas Jessee recounts the life of Robert E. Lee before the War including his time at the U. S. Military Academy at West Point, his betrothal and marriage to Mary Anna Custis (the great-granddaughter of Martha Washington), their family life together including their seven children (George Washington Custis, William "Rooney", Robert Jr., Mary, Anne, Eleanor Agnes, and Mildred), and of course his military career.
